An Awesome First Week

The children began their week with their first fun filled music class with Mrs. McIvor. As they learned new songs and movement activities, their little faces were full of anticipating smiles eager to see what might be next! One of their favorites was "I'm A Little Teapot!" The most exciting news was that everyone participated and continued singing words from their favorite songs throughout the day.

The little ladybugs enjoyed their first visit to the library. They displayed the very best library manners using "quiet voices and walking feet" as they toured the library. We met our librarian, Mrs. Smay, and found our "Clifford" friends in the corner! The children gave a "thumbs up" after enjoying the book, "The Crayon Box That Talked" by Shane DeRolf.

At Center Time we the children enjoyed getting messy exploring with red finger paint. After making pictures and designs, each child
experimented making their very own hand prints
on white paper.
We could not wait to see what was hiding in our special "Magic Basket." It was our special friend, "Mat Man!" We were introduced to all of his important parts, one by one, as Mrs. Mundell pulled them out of the basket. Next we used "Big Lines," Little Lines," Big Curves" and "Little Curves" to make our very own "Mat Man!"
Next week we will be thinking about  "Mat Man" and his special parts as we draw portraits of ourselves!

Welcome Alpha Families

Welcome to the "Lively Ladybug" blog. Here you will be able to view our classroom in action! You will learn about curriculum activities, special events and important dates to remember.

What a great start for our precious little Alphas! There have been very few tears. As a matter of fact, some friends even wanted to stay when it was time to go home!

The children have been thrilled to discover their new environment while making new friends. They have been busy exploring the classroom, our
                                                    playground and the Exploratorium.

For the past several days we have had fun singing songs, reading books and playing games at circle time. We were amazed at how quickly the children found their special name tapes on the rug and sat with perfect "pretzel legs!" We have practiced saying the "Pledge of Allegiance" and singing "Flag of America." This week the children will learn about our  special daily calendar!
